Well, that was another smoking bonfire night! Thankfully the poor weather held off, and we were delighted to have so many people come to share in our annual fireworks night.
The event is only possible each year thanks to the help of so many villagers, donating time, equipment and help every year. So it's worth taking the time to thank them all properly:
Robin first of all, for allowing us to use his field
Nick and Sarah for electric power
Adam and Graham for the lights
Adam and Garth for gazebos
Steve and Cameron for the music
Cameron and Linda for being the first aiders
Matt for collecting the wood, arranging the fire lighter and sand buckets,
Liz for providing bailer twine
Alan for donating the straw and diesel
Andy, Tim, Adam and all the others who helped build the bonfire
Pam and Garth for doing the mulled wine, and Di for selling the lightropes
Steve for the high viz jackets and Liz for the torches
Terry for the grass seed
A big thank you to the village hall committee and those other volunteers who ran the event, stayed afterwards to clear the field, and went back the next day to tidy up, and then returned the week afterwards to re-seed it all.
And most importantly, to the Friends of St Mary, who donated all the fantastic fireworks!
